Why Claremont Patients Choose Eye MDs of Inland

We care for many patients from Claremont’s retirement communities and from the Colleges community alike. The conditions we’re asked about most are the age-related ones: cataracts, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. Our philosophy is education first — you’ll leave your visit understanding exactly what was found, what it means, and what your options are, with no pressure toward surgery before it’s truly worthwhile.

Glaucoma deserves its own specialist: diagnosis and treatment are provided through Inland Glaucoma Center, our dedicated glaucoma division in the same Upland building, led by a UCLA fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist.

The Surgeons You’ll See

Dr. Marc Shomer, MD, PhD is a board-certified ophthalmologist and cataract surgery specialist who completed his residency at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA and serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, where he teaches cataract surgery to the next generation of eye surgeons. Dr. Robert Gunzenhauser, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist and UCLA fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist who performs both standard and premium cataract surgery. Both physicians see every patient personally at our single-site, physician-owned practice — and both doctors and our entire staff speak Spanish (se habla español).
