Dr. Shomer achieved his undergraduate degree from UCLA with Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa distinctions, along with Highest Departmental Honors and College Honors. He was honored as the Class Commencement Speaker during UCLA’s 1995 graduation ceremony. His entry into the NIH-Sponsored MD PhD program at UCLA was accompanied by a full scholarship. His research efforts were dedicated to unveiling the intricacies of neuronal repair mechanisms within the adult mammalian nervous system.

Having completed two doctoral degrees at UCLA, Dr. Shomer extended his tenure at the institution by undertaking a residency in ophthalmology at the esteemed Jules Stein Eye Institute, ranked 3rd in the nation for Ophthalmology.  His achievements encompassed board certification and fellowship recognition from the American Board of Ophthalmology. Concurrently, he serves as a Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at USC’s Doheny Eye Institute and functions as an Ophthalmologist and Vision Surgeon at the Eye MDs of Inland.

Dr. Shomer’s overarching ethos of treating patients akin to family has remained steadfast since the outset of his educational journey. He consistently demonstrates profound compassion toward each patient, creating an atmosphere of comfort and familiarity. His overarching objective extends beyond mere enhancement of visual acuity, aiming to uplift the overall well-being of his patients.
